IN THE YEAR 2024


Dr. Divya Sussana Patil, was invited as a resource person for the session on ‘Crafting a scoping review’ for the Manipal Quest 1.0 (MAHE Inter-Health Sciences Postgraduate Research Conference) on 9th June 2024 at Manipal





Dr. Divya Sussana Patil and Dr. Edlin Glane Mathias, participated as resource persons for the session ‘Writing a review article’. It was an interactive session with the post-graduate students who participated in the MAHE Health Sciences Research Day Inspire Learner Event conducted on 8th June 2024 at Manipal.






Mr. Elstin Anbu Raj, Research Fellow at CEIDeM, along with Prof. Helmut Brand and Dr. Angela Brand, organised and attended the High-level HTA Policy Dialogue on May 31, 2024, in New Delhi.





Dr Edlin Mathias was invited to deliberate a guest lecture for the webinar series on “Evidence synthesis methods” organized by Pushpagiri College of Nursing, Kerala on April 20, 2024.





Dr Edlin Mathias was invited to deliberate a guest lecture on “Utilizing digital health tools to reduce health care costs” in the international webinar on the theme Nurse led solutions to reduce health care costs organized by Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences on May 8, 2024.




Mr Elstin Anbu Raj attended the 9th International Fellowship on Health Technology Assessment, during 18 – 24 March 2024, held at Kalam Convention Center, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh


IN THE YEAR 2023


i. Dr. Divya Sussana Patil, Research Fellow, Department of Health Information, was invited as a speaker at the ‘Perspective towards Disability: From Dysfunction to function’ symposium held on 2 December 2023, at Sancheti Institute for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation College of Physiotherapy, Pune.



ii. Dr Edlin Glane Mathias, Research fellow, PHESA, received second prize for oral presentation in an international conference organized by AIIMS, Raipur.


iii. Nachiket Gudi, Coordinator, PHESA, Department of Health Information, Prasanna School of Public Health, MAHE, Manipal, presented a poster at the 18th Biennial European Conference organized by the Society for Medical Decision Making between 21st-23rd May 2023 at Berlin, Germany.

IN THE YEAR 2021


Dr. Shradha S. Parsekar attended and had an on demand oral presentation: “To tell or not to tell...” Practice of (non) disclosure and collusion of cancer in India at WCE-2021, World Congress on Epidemiology organized by International Epidemiological Association held virtually on 3-6 September 2021.

Dr. Bhumika TV presented a paper of DFID-funded project completed by PHESA (A systematic review on how effective are Public works programmes in stimulating local economic transformation in low and middle income countries) at National Symposium on Evidence Synthesis for Medicine, Public Health & Social Development, New Delhi, from 11th-12th April, 2019.

IN THE YEAR 2018

Global Evidence and Implementation Summit (GEIS) Australia, 2018




Dr. Eti Rajwar attended the Global Evidence and Implementation Summit (GEIS) held at Melbourne, Australia, from 22th to 24th October, 2018. She represented PHESA at the summit, and presented a review paper titled ‘Effect of food fortification and supplementation on nutritional status of women: an evidence summary’, during the poster presentation session. Eminent keynote speakers from different areas of work viz. health, education, environment, crime and justice, and social care; spoke about evidence synthesis and using this evidence for better policy, programs and practice. Participants from around thirty countries across the globe participated in the summit.



Global Public Health Conference, Sri Lanka, 2018



Dr. Prachi Pundir attended the annual Global Public Health Conference held at Negombo, Sri Lanka, from 13th to 15th June, 2018. She presented a paper on ‘Body Mass index and its factors among women of reproductive age in mountainous region of India’. The international conference had representation from 11 countries across the globe and included study tour to understand the health system of Sri Lanka.

East Asia Biennial Conference of International Biometric Society, Puducherry, 2018



East Asia Biennial Conference of International Biometric Society was held on February 16-17, 2018 at JIMPER, Puducherry. Dr. Bhumika T.V., Dr. Prachi Pundir, Dr. Shruti Murthy, Ms. Ann Mary Sebastian and Ms. Zinnia Sharma attended and presented at the conference. PHESA team members presented the ongoing projects at the conference.



ACIES Conclave at Indian Institute of Public Health, Gandhinagar, 2018



ACIES 2018 was organized by Indian Institute of Public Health, Gandhinagar, from 18th to 20th January 2018. Dr. Bhumika T.V., Dr. Eti Rajwar and Dr. Prachi Pundir represented PHESA at the conclave. PHESA was one of the nine collaborating partners in the conference. Dr. Bhumika T.V. was felicitated for her participation in the ‘Job Fair’ for public health students of various participating universities. Dr. Prachi Pundir received the best oral presentation award.

An evidence summary of systematic reviews” and “What behaviour change communication (BCC) interventions work in improving uptake of antenatal care services in Low and Middle Income Countries? An evidence summary of systematic reviews” during the 61stAnnual National Conference of Indian Public Health Association (IPHA) & First State Conference of IPHA Rajasthan Branch (IPHACON 2017) organised by Department of Community Medicine and Family Medicine, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jodhpur in collaboration with IPHA Rajasthan Branch held on 24th- 26th February 2017 at AIIMS, Jodhpur.
  • Poster presentation by Ms. Sherize Merlin Sequeira on “Effective rehabilitation strategies for the disabilities caused due to breast cancer or its treatment: An evidence summary of systematic reviews” at Breast Cancer Evidence Update, organised by Centre for Community Oncology and School of Life Sciences, Manipal Academy of higher Education, Manipal in collaboration with Markey Cancer Centre, University of Kentucky, held on 23rd February 2017 at Manipal Academy of higher Education, Manipal.
  • Paper presentation on the title “Effective interventions for the disabilities caused due to breast cancer or its treatment: An overview of systematic reviews” by Shradha Parsekar at the international conference on Impact of Global Issues on Women and Children held by the Manipal college of Nursing Sciences, Manipal Academy of higher Education, Manipal on January 9th -12th , 2017.
  • Bhumika T. V. Presented a paper on “Gender Responsive Policing” initiatives designed to enhance confidence, satisfaction in policing services and reduce risk of violence against women in low and middle income countries- preliminary findings from a systematic review at the International Conference on Impact of Global Issues on Women and Children organized by Manipal Academy of higher Education (MCON), Manipal, held on January 9-12, 2017.
  • Shradha Parsekar Presented two research papers titled, “Effective Rehabilitation Strategies for the disabilities caused due to NCDs (breast cancer & stroke) or its treatment: An evidence summary of systematic reviews” and “Informal caregivers of women diagnosed with breast cancer in Indian context: A concept of caregiver and care-giving” during the “South Asian Evidence Summit-SES 2017, Public Health and Development in South Asia” organized by Public Health Evidence South Asia (PHESA), Manipal Academy of higher Education, Manipal during 5-7th January 2017.
  • A Scientific paper presentation on "Costs of management of neonatal sepsis in South Asia: a systematic review" by Dr. Shruti Murthy was presented at the International South Asian Evidence Summit, organized by PHESA, held at Manipal Academy of higher Education, Manipal from 5th-7thJanuary 2017.
