‘Public Health Evidence South Asia (PHESA), Manipal came into existence under Department of Statistics in 2013. It was the brain-child of Dr. N. Sreekumaran Nair who was the then Head of Department of Statistics under the guidance of Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, Vice-Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education. PHESA became the south-Asian satellite of Cochrane Public Health in late 2012. Professor K. Srinath Reddy inaugurated PHESA in 2013. PHESA became a centre under Prasanna School of Public Health in 2017 and is currently under Department of Health Information, Prasanna School of Public Health, Manipal.

WHO WE ARE..?

Centre for Evidence-informed Decision-making [formerly known as Public Health Evidence South Asia (PHESA), Manipal is an initiative which includes the South Asian satellite of Cochrane Public Health (CPH), based at Department of Health Information, Prasanna School of Public Health, Manipal Academy of higher Education. Centre for Evidence-informed Decision-making aims to meet the public health evidence needs of the South Asian region. Presently, we have grown into an international network with global collaborations, including many universities, public health organizations and NGOs.

Our staff and interns have roots around the globe. We aim to partner with various organizations and individuals across subject areas to solve a variety of public health problems faced by low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). We work together to foster a flexible environment which inspires new ideas, debate, change and innovation; with a focus on capacity building in public health research.
