The centre for Evidence-informed Decision-making (CEIDeM), Department of Health Information, Prasanna School of Public Health (PSPH), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal successfully completed a Certificate Course in Evidence Synthesis (Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis), which was held from 2nd March to 1st June 2024 through hybrid mode.
Certificate Course in Evidence Synthesis: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis, Manipal, 2022
PHESA has successfully completed the fifth Certificate Course in Evidence Synthesis: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis. The certificate course carrying 4 credit points was conducted online from 7th to 12th November, 2022. The course aimed at sensitizing participants on systematic review methodology and provided step by-step guidance on how to perform systematic reviews and meta-analysis. Additionally, the course included training and sensitization on role of automation in evidence synthesis, rapid evidence synthesis, and systematic review evidence in the context of south Asia, with a focus on India. A panel discussion on “Evidence to Policy Translation” was also conducted. Twenty- eight participants representing various disciplines completed the course.

PHESA has successfully completed the fourth Certificate
Course in Evidence Synthesis: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
The certificate course carrying 4 credit points was conducted
online from 20th to 25th September, 2021, due to the current
pandemic situation. The course aimed at sensitizing participants
on systematic review methodology and provided step by-step
guidance on how to perform systematic reviews and meta-analysis.
The certificate course in 2021 included training and sensitization
on evidence-based policymaking, rapid evidence synthesis and
systematic review evidence in the context of south Asia, with a
focus on India. Fifty-two participants representing various
disciplines completed the course and were trained on systematic
review methodology and the essentials of evidence-based policy.
Certificate Course on Evidence Synthesis, Manipal, 2020
PHESA has successfully completed the third Certificate Course on
Evidence Synthesis. The course aimed at sensitizing participants on
systematic review methodology and provided step by-step guidance on
how to perform systematic reviews and meta-analysis. In light of the
current COVID 19 situation, we have conducted an online certificate
course from 20th July to 1st August, 2020. Fifty participants representing
various disciplines completed the course.
Certificate course on Evidence synthesis, Manipal, 2019
PHESA has successfully completed the second Certificate Course on Evidence Synthesis.
This course was based on the principle of “Learning by doing”. Every step of a systematic
review was elaborately explained and practical exposure was provided in the form of
practice exercises, take-home assignments, group activities and hands-on training.
Participants were provided with practical tips on do’s and don’ts during the review process.
At the end of this course, participants gained in-depth knowledge about systematic
review methodology. The course was conducted from 25th March to 4th April, 2019.Thirty
participants representing various disciplines completed the course. PHESA conducts two
certificate courses every year.
Certificate course on Evidence synthesis: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis, Manipal, 2018
Public Health Evidence South Asia (PHESA) initiated a certificate course on “Evidence
synthesis: Systematic review and Meta- analysis” in March 2018. The course aimed at
sensitizing the participants on systematic review methodology and provide detailed
step-by-step guidance on how to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis. We
had 24 registered participants for the course from various disciplines from Manipal,
Mangalore and Kerala. The course ended in June 2018 and all participants successfully
completed the course.
